The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has been awarded the prestigious ‘Jal Yodha Samman’ in recognition of its outstanding work in water management and conservation.

The award was presented at a national-level event organized by the Art of Living Foundation in Bengaluru, in the presence of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and other prominent figures.

Supported by NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the award recognizes organizations that make significant contributions to water conservation and the vision of "Atmanirbhar Jal Bharat" (Self-Reliant Water India).

On behalf of CEO Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the award was received by an Assistant Conservator of Forests.

Under the chairmanship of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, the Shrine Board has implemented a comprehensive strategy focusing on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, wastewater reuse, and smart water management systems.

The Board has also introduced water ATMs, undertaken large-scale afforestation, and developed nurseries, while conducting annual plantation drives involving over 1.5 lakh saplings to enhance water retention and prevent soil erosion.

The Shrine Board previously secured first place in the National Water Awards for three consecutive years, and this latest recognition is expected to further strengthen its efforts towards sustainable water management.
