February 19, Srinagar: The Kulgam Municipal Council has intensified field activities across the town under the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26 campaign, emphasizing door-to-door waste collection awareness, large-scale cleanliness drives at key locations, and strict measures against open dumping.
As part of the initiative, a special cleanliness drive was conducted in Chawalgam, Kulgam, where sanitation workers, officials, and members of the local community participated. The effort aimed to develop the area into a "Green Zone" through focused cleaning, waste removal, and public outreach.
The council has been organizing Information, Education, and Communication activities to promote waste segregation at the source and encourage residents to take an active role in maintaining cleanliness.
Authorities are also working to strengthen sanitation infrastructure to move toward the goal of a cleaner, garbage-free town.
The sanitary inspector of the Kulgam Municipal Council said the drive was conducted under the Swachh Survekshan program, and that similar activities are underway across the district. He said public participation and cooperation have been encouraging and remain key to the campaign's success.
The council urged residents to avoid open dumping, adopt proper waste disposal practices, and contribute to keeping Kulgam clean and green.
