Los Angeles, March 17 – Hollywood actor-director Paul Feig has shared an update on the sequel to “The Maid.” The director-actor has announced that he will begin filming the movie this autumn.

The 63-year-old filmmaker’s adaptation of Freida McFadden’s novel was a box-office success when it was released last December, and he has confirmed that the cast and crew are “ready to go” for the sequel, which will see Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone reprise their roles, according to ‘Female First UK’.

Paul Feig told The Hollywood Reporter at the Academy Awards, "We're going to start shooting in the fall. The script is all finished, we're just doing some minor revisions".

He further added, “We're ready. Sydney is returning, and Michele is returning, and then some very exciting new actors are joining”.

According to ‘Female First UK’, the director of “The Bridesmaids” has been thrilled by the response to “The Maid” from moviegoers, following the release of his previous three films, “The School for Good and Evil,” “Jackpot,” and “Another Simple Favor,” all on streaming.

He said, "It's amazing. We're about to reach $400 million worldwide, which is fantastic. I make my movies for audiences and to create a shared experience, and so to see this in theaters, with all these people having fun, filming themselves watching the movie, that's how we're going to get movie theaters back – to give people a great experience in the theater.”

Paul Feig previously mentioned how he was inspired by the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, during the making of “The Maid,” which also stars Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.

He said, "What I love about Hitchcock is that he always allows for fun. I've watched so many thrillers in my life that take themselves so seriously that I don't see any room for fun. I'm very dedicated to the thriller genre, but how can I bring (laughs) that into the genre and get a double response from the audience? We're treating the story seriously, but there's something wonderfully absurd about this dangerous situation”.

However, he does not adopt the same methodical planning as the iconic Psycho filmmaker.
