March 12, New Delhi – The Research & Development Establishment (Engineers), Pune-based lab of India's defence research arm DRDO, along with the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), have developed indigenous tactile sensor arrays for advanced robotic applications.
This technology paves the way for developing artificial skin for future robots. The sensors can handle delicate, lightweight, and heavy objects, and are capable of detecting slippage.
DIAT demonstrated the efficacy of the sensor array before handing it over to R&DE(E).
