
New Delhi, April 3 The BJP on Friday announced a list of 27 candidates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, fielding Union Minister L Murugan from the Avanashi constituency and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan from Mylapore.
Vanathi Srinivasan, national president of the BJP's Mahila Morcha, will also contest from Coimbatore (North), according to a list released by the party.
The party has also nominated Kirthika Shivkumar from Modakkurichi, S Vijayadharani from Vilavancode, and Nagesh Kumar from the Thalli constituency.
Polling for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly will take place on April 23, and vote counting will be held on May 4.
Union Minister and BJP in-charge for elections in Tamil Nadu, Piyush Goyal, congratulated the candidates and said, "With the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the strong NDA alliance led by Edappadi K Palaniswami, each candidate represents the aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu, who are tired of corruption, complacency, and broken promises."
"With a united NDA, we are confident of ending years of misrule under the DMK and ushering in a new era where Tamil Nadu thrives with infrastructure, jobs, and welfare for all," Goyal said in a post on X.
"Together, we are committed to ensuring that the people of the state experience the promise of good governance in action," the senior BJP leader added.
