Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections: TVK Party Announces Contestants.webp

Chennai, March 29 In his first electoral campaign, TVK chief Vijay announced on Sunday that he would contest from two constituencies for the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

He said he would be contesting from Perambur in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli East.

Addressing a meeting of party functionaries here, he also named candidates for other seats, with all members of his core team included in the list.

Elections to the 234 Assembly constituencies in the state will be held on April 23.

Senior party leaders and Vijay's inner team members – N Anand, Adhav Arjuna, R Arunraaj, CTR Nirmal Kumar and KA Sengkottaiyan – were named as TVK candidates for constituencies including T Nagar, Villivakkam, Gobichettipalayam and Thirupparankundram.

Reiterating that the electoral fight was between his "people's alliance TVK and Stalin sir's alliance," he criticized the ruling DMK-led bloc as a mere "temporary arrangement."

"I have selected candidates who will stand with the people," he said.

Unveiling an agenda for youth, what he described as "guarantees," Vijay promised, among other things, steps for a drug-free Tamil Nadu, collateral-free loans up to Rs 20 lakh for individuals from Class 12 to PhD.
