Chennai, March 10 Actor-politician Vijay began interviewing TVK party candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections, the first time the party is contesting.
The party will field candidates for all 234 Assembly seats in the state, with key constituencies allocated to senior party leaders, according to a source in the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Vijay, who arrived at the TVK headquarters in Panaiyur, will interview about 60 candidates today. The party has received over 4,200 applications from individuals who wish to contest on TVK tickets.
The TVK is likely to shortlist the candidates soon. An insider claimed that senior leaders Bussy Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, and Arun Raj are likely to be nominated for the T Nagar, Villivakkam, and Tiruchengode constituencies.
The fledgling party, launched on February 2, 2024, is contesting the Assembly elections for the first time, positioning itself as a viable alternative to the ruling DMK. While the TVK has offered a share in power to parties that have formed electoral alliances with it, no political party has joined it so far.
