Tarkowski and Dewsbury-Hall Star in Everton Win.webp

Liverpool, March 4. Everton secured their second consecutive victory on Tuesday evening, comfortably defeating Burnley 2-0 in the Premier League at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

David Moyes had challenged his team to replicate their outstanding away performances at their new ground, and the Blues responded, taking the lead in the first half when James Tarkowski (who captained the side) headed in a goal from a James Garner set piece in the 32nd minute.

Despite dominating the first half, Everton had to wait until the 60th minute for their second goal, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall cleverly finishing off a well-worked Everton move, in which Dwight McNeil (who was outstanding) had been a key player.

Former Burnley defender James Tarkowski came back to haunt his old club, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also scored for Everton in a dominant performance, as David Moyes' side secured their first home win since December 6, 2025.

Tarkowski, who had spent six and a half years at Burnley, scored his first Premier League goal in over a year when he headed in from a cross by James Garner in the 32nd minute.

Dewsbury-Hall completed a neat move on the hour mark to seal the victory, which boosted Everton's hopes of qualifying for Europe, with Idrissa Gueye coming close to scoring a sensational third goal when he hit the crossbar.

Everton, who needed goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to make a crucial save to preserve their clean sheet late on, remain eighth in the league, but are just two points behind the top six, while Burnley remain 19th, eight points from safety.

"Dwight's performance at Newcastle was very good. He built on that and took it into tonight's game, and we're seeing a much-improved Ili and Gana after they returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, and also Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall improving greatly because he's just beginning to get back to where he was before the hamstring injury," said Everton boss David Moyes.
