Teacher and Students Aid Answer Sheet Checking.webp

Pune, March 13 The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has launched an investigation after a video showing two Class VI students allegedly helping a teacher check Class X Marathi answer sheets at a school in Satara went viral on social media, an official said on Friday.

The incident occurred at Uttareshwar High School in Vidani village in Phaltan, about 100 kilometers from here, following which the Kolhapur Divisional Board of MSBSHSE began an investigation, he added.

In the viral video, two schoolgirls are seen handling answer sheets along with a teacher.

"Our preliminary investigation has revealed that the two Class VI students were asked to simply draw lines on the blank pages of the answer sheets. However, we have not yet determined when the incident took place. We have sent a team to the school in Phaltan to investigate further," said Rajesh Kshirsagar, chairperson of the Kolhapur Divisional Board.

However, Kshirsagar asserted that even handing over examination answer sheets to unauthorized individuals constitutes a violation of rules.

The divisional board team will visit the school during the day, obtain CCTV footage as part of the investigation, and submit a report by late evening, he added.

"Students appearing for examinations are expected to draw cross lines on blank pages so that no one can write on them later. Generally, students do not draw these cross lines, and teachers checking the papers have to mark them before evaluation. However, in this case, handing over the papers to an unauthorized person is not allowed," he said.
