Patna, March 10 Indian top-order batsman Ishan Kishan arrived in his hometown on Tuesday to a grand welcome after playing a key role in his team's triumphant campaign in the T20 World Cup.
Kishan's return was particularly inspiring, as he was not even part of the national team just a few months ago. The left-handed batsman scored a match-winning innings against Pakistan on a difficult pitch before smashing a half-century in the final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
He also had to cope with the tragic loss of his cousin due to a car accident while preparing for the final match.
Upon arrival in Patna, Kishan said that the team is determined to win more titles in the future. This was India's third T20 World Cup title, and they also became the first team to successfully defend the trophy.
"I am feeling great. Team India has won, and this is a great moment not just for us, but for the entire country. I hope we continue to play and win in the future. I believe that if I perform well, it will motivate young players. I always try to encourage young players," said Kishan, who plays domestic cricket for neighboring Jharkhand.
