Tejashwi Yadav Highlights Poverty and Unemployment in Bihar.webp

Patna, February 23 Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, stated on Monday that under the NDA rule, the state has become the poorest in the country and is lagging in employment, per capita income, and sports.

Yadav made these remarks outside the Assembly during the ongoing Budget session.

"In the 21 years of NDA rule, Bihar has become the poorest state with the lowest per capita income, it has the largest number of unemployed people, and it is lagging in sports and other sectors," he claimed.

The state's situation in terms of investment, education, and healthcare is also poor, he added.

Yadav further claimed that the state is witnessing "crime, corruption, misgovernance, dictatorship, and the hijacking of governance by bureaucracy" at an alarming level.

"Rape, kidnapping, and murder are happening daily in the state. Neither is the government taking action, nor does it have answers when questions are raised in the Assembly," Yadav alleged.

In response, Minister Ashok Choudhary told reporters that Yadav needs to "check his data" because "all his statements are false".

"The state's development is for everyone to see. People can see the work being done in the agriculture and infrastructure sectors. They are also witnessing improvements in the law-and-order situation. Per capita income has increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 68,000 during the two-decade NDA rule. The number of people living below the poverty line has decreased from 40 per cent to 16 per cent."

Yadav had also said that it is a "misfortune" of the state that it has an "unconscious" chief minister.

"These corrupt people have drained the exchequer, and in the coming days, the state will not be left with enough money to pay the salaries of government employees," he alleged.

To this, Choudhary said, "That is the concern of the government. He need not worry about that."
