
Hyderabad, March 24 The Telangana High Court has issued notices to the Speaker of the state assembly, Gaddam Prasad Kumar, and MLA Danam Nagender, in response to a writ petition challenging the Speaker's order dismissing a petition seeking to disqualify the legislator.
On Monday, the High Court directed the filing of counter-affidavits while hearing the petition filed by BJP floor leader in the Assembly, Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, who sought to overturn the order passed by the Speaker dismissing the disqualification plea against Nagender.
The matter has been posted for April 16.
On March 11, Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar dismissed petitions seeking the disqualification of two BRS MLAs for allegedly switching to the ruling Congress party.
The Speaker dismissed the pleas against Danam Nagender (MLA from Khairatabad) and Kadiam Srihari.
Maheshwar Reddy had previously filed a petition before the Speaker seeking Nagender's disqualification. The BJP MLA approached the High Court following the dismissal of the disqualification plea.
