Hyderabad, March 19 Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on Thursday that his state government would launch the disbursement of funds under the 'Rythu Bharosa' investment support scheme for farmers from March 22.

Speaking at the Telugu New Year 'Ugadi' celebrations organized by the state government here, he also said that the Revenue department would soon address the problems concerning agricultural lands purchased through the 'sada bainama' (unregistered land transactions on plain paper) method.

On March 15, the state government announced that Rs 9,000 crores would be deposited into the bank accounts of farmers under the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme.

Asserting that the state government is making efforts to ensure the prosperity of farmers, the Chief Minister said that the government had disbursed Rs 18,000 crores during the last two years under the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme, with Rs 12,000 being provided per acre every year.

He also highlighted that the government has completed a farm loan waiver of up to Rs two lakh, which has benefited over 25 lakh families.

While Telangana has seen strides in the IT sector and industrialisation, 70 per cent of the state's population relies on agriculture for a living, he said.

Citing data released by the Centre, he said it is a matter of pride that Telangana maintains the lowest debt burden of farmers.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, several ministers and other leaders attended the Ugadi celebrations.

Bachampally Santosh Kumar Sastry conducted 'Panchanga Sravanam' (recitation of almanac) at the celebrations as per Ugadi tradition.
