Shimla, April 7 No prayers or any other religious activity will be permitted at the Ram Temple here, the committee overseeing the temple's affairs stated on Tuesday.
This statement came in response to outrage over a purported booking of a Muslim wedding reception at the temple.
Rajeev Sood, President of the Ram Temple Sood Sabha, said the booking was only for a reception in the temple's community hall.
He stated that a written undertaking has been provided, stating that no Muslim religious activity will be held there.
"Over the past five years, approximately 15 to 16 wedding receptions of Muslim and other communities have taken place there, all in compliance with the rules," Sood said.
As a conciliatory gesture, Sood said the number of CCTV cameras in the hall will be increased, and two staff members will be deployed to maintain a more vigilant watch.
He said that power will be cut off, and the police will be informed if any rules are violated.
Meanwhile, the Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti warned of a protest if any such event is held in the temple.
