Temple Court Ruling Influences Modi's Visit.webp

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), March 1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Arulmigu Subrahmanya Swamy temple at Tirupparankundram near here on Sunday, amidst tight security arrangements.

The PM, who arrived around 4:15 pm, was given "purna-kumbha" honors by the temple administration. Dressed in a dhoti, kurta, and adorned with a shawl, the Prime Minister toured the temple and later offered his prayers.

Modi was accompanied by Governor R N Ravi, Union Minister L Murugan, and BJP state chief Nainar Nagenthran.

Modi's visit to the shrine follows a controversy last year over the lighting of a lamp on the "deepathoon" (pillar) on the hilltop, which reached the court.

The court ruled in favor of the devotees' right to light the lamp at the "deepathoon."
