March 26, New Delhi: Iran says it is reviewing a U.S. proposal to end the war but clarified that backchannel communications do not constitute formal negotiations.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the proposal is under consideration by Iran’s top leadership, while rejecting any suggestion of direct engagement. He confirmed that Washington has sent messages through multiple intermediaries, but Tehran does not view these as official dialogue.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that Iran is negotiating with his administration but is hesitant to admit it. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added that the U.S. and Iran are engaged in peace talks despite Iranian state media reports rejecting the plan.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli forces are expanding a buffer zone in Lebanon amid operations against Iran-backed Hezbollah. He added that the zone has prevented infiltrations toward Israel’s northern border and is being widened to strengthen security.
