
Thane, March 10 Three people were injured after a test drive car lost control, crashed into parked vehicles, and fell into a deep construction pit in Thane city, Maharashtra, on Tuesday evening, officials said.
The accident occurred at 7:28 pm near a hotel in the Pachpakhadi area of Naupada, according to the district Disaster Management Cell.
A Tata Curvv test drive vehicle went out of control, hitting an auto-rickshaw and two parked motorcycles on the roadside before falling into a pit dug for a building construction project, which was approximately 20 feet deep, an official said.
Three people travelling in the car were trapped inside after the vehicle fell into the pit. The three, who sustained injuries, were rescued by local residents before emergency teams arrived at the scene, the official said.
The injured included an employee of the car showroom from which the car was taken for a test drive, he added.
Authorities said the deployment of airbags in the vehicle prevented more serious injuries to the occupants.
