Surat, April 1 A major fire broke out at a textile factory in Surat on Wednesday, and efforts are underway to bring it under control, officials said.
So far, there have been no reports of injuries in the fire that erupted at the Gopi Knitting textile factory, which is part of Hojiwala Industries, in the Sachin industrial area.
The fire department issued a "major" call after the blaze spread rapidly due to the presence of fabrics and nylon material, engulfing the entire factory, an official said.
Over a dozen fire tenders were rushed to the scene to control the blaze. Precautions were taken to prevent it from spreading to nearby factories, he said.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, it has caused extensive damage to the factory, the official added.
