Thane, March 27 A man allegedly opened fire at a young man in the Panchpakhadi area of Thane city in the early hours of Friday and fled, a police official said.
The accused, Jabiullah Shafikurrehman Khan (37), shot at Inzamam, who escaped unharmed, due to an old grudge, the Naupada police station official added.
"The incident took place at 12:45 am near a petrol pump in the Haripath area on the Eastern Express Highway. Khan fired two shots when Inzamam was on a motorcycle with a female friend. Khan and Inzamam are residents of the Hazuri area and have been involved in a long-standing dispute," the official said.
Khan has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act for attempted murder and other offenses, he said.
All efforts are underway to apprehend Khan, the official said.
While police had earlier said that Khan had previous cases against him, officials later clarified that he did not have a prior criminal record.
