Thane, April 9 Advocates in Thane on Thursday said they would continue their protest against the proposed establishment of a separate district and sessions court in the Mira-Bhayander area.
The decision was taken by the Thane District Courts Bar Association (TDCBA) at a special general body meeting here on Thursday.
The association has directed its members to discard their traditional black coats and instead wear black bands on their right sleeves while working from April 10, a notice posted in the bar room stated.
The TDCBA claims that the bifurcation of the Thane court will negatively impact the existing judicial structure, lead to a fragmented distribution of work, and create logistical hurdles for both lawyers and litigants.
The association had earlier voiced its opposition following a communication from the District and Sessions Court on March 23 seeking the bar's opinion.
