
Thane, April 11 The Thane Municipal Corporation has launched its pre-monsoon "nullah" (major drain) cleaning drive from Mumbra, an official said on Saturday.
Mayor Sharmila Pimpolkar directed officials to ensure the complete desilting of all major drains by the end of May, before the onset of the monsoon.
Timely completion of drain cleaning is essential to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon, she said.
The work commenced from the Amrit Nagar drain in Mumbra's ward number 32, in the presence of local corporator and leader of the opposition in the TMC, Ashraf Shanu Pathan, who welcomed the early start of the drive.
