Los Angeles, March 10 Hollywood veteran Jeff Daniels has joined the cast of the hit Apple TV series "The Morning Show" for its upcoming fifth season.
The 70-year-old actor, best known for the HBO drama "The Newsroom", will play Lukas, the billionaire founder of an investment company, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He joins the show's ensemble cast, which includes Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, and Jon Hamm.
Season five of "The Morning Show" will pick up after the dramatic events of the previous season, which saw Witherspoon's character Bradley being detained in Belarus while a group of characters exposed a UBN executive involved in a cover-up.
Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt has previously said that the upcoming season will further explore the dynamic between Bradley and Cory, played by Crudup.
"The Morning Show" is showrun and executive produced by Stoudt, and directed and executive produced by Mimi Leder. Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer serve as executive producers for studio Media Res.
Witherspoon executive produces the show with Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, while Aniston and Kristin Hahn executive produce for Echo Films. Zander Lehmann and Micah Schraft also serve as executive producers.
Daniels won two Primetime Emmy Awards for his performances in "The Newsroom" and the Netflix limited series "Godless".
The actor has also starred in popular films such as "Dumb and Dumber", "The Martian", and "Good Night, and Good Luck", and recently appeared in the Apple TV comedy series "Shrinking".
Daniels is also a Tony-nominated stage actor and the founder of Michigan's Purple Rose Theatre Company.
