Thiruvananthapuram, March 9 Three people died and one sustained serious injuries after two motorcycles collided in Nedumangad on Monday, police said.

The deceased were identified as Rajesh (21), Binoy (20), and Sreelal (28), all from Uzhamalakkal near here.

Abhinav (21) of Uzhamalakkal, who was injured, has been admitted to hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the accident occurred around 10:45 pm on Sunday on the Kulappada stretch of the Nedumangad-Aryanad road.

Police said Rajesh and Binoy were riding one motorcycle, which collided with another motorcycle carrying Sreelal and Abhinav. All four fell onto the road and sustained serious injuries.

Although the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, three of them later succumbed to their injuries, police said.

The Aryanad police have registered a case and begun investigating the incident on Monday.

The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families after a post-mortem examination, police added.
