Three Jal Shakti Workers Removed Amidst Terrorism Investigation.webp

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has terminated the services of three employees from the Jal Shakti Department, Jammu and Kashmir, following allegations that they were involved in anti-national and subversive activities during investigations into terror-related cases.

According to separate orders issued by the department, the three employees—two temporary casual laborers from Kishtwar and one daily-rated worker from Anantnag—have been removed from their positions with immediate effect for the sake of administration.

Those terminated include Liyaqat Ali Bhagwan, son of Aziz Mohd Bhagwan, who was stationed in Berwar in the Kishtwar district; Kousar Hussain Bhagwan, son of Mohd Akbar Bhagwan, who was stationed in Huller under the PHE Sub-Division in Kishtwar; and Showkat Ahmad Zargar, son of Nazir Ahmad Zargar, who was a daily-rated worker stationed in Bijbehara in the Anantnag district.

This action was taken following references received from the Home Department indicating their alleged involvement in anti-national and subversive activities.

Official documents state that Liyaqat Ali Bhagwan and Kousar Hussain Bhagwan were named in FIR No. 230/2019, registered under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act related to allegations of involvement in terrorist acts, conspiracy, harboring terrorists, and support to a terrorist organization. A charge sheet has been filed in the case, and the matter is currently under trial.

Similarly, Showkat Ahmad Zargar was named in FIR No. 53/2019 under provisions of the Arms Act 1959 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Investigations in the case have been completed, and the charge sheet has been filed, with the trial presently underway.

The government orders state that, in light of these developments and for the sake of administration, the services of the three employees have been terminated immediately.
