Chandrapur, May 10 — In a tragic incident, three MBBS students from Gadchiroli district are feared to have drowned in the Wainganga river in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Saturday evening, according to police sources.
The mishap occurred at Saoli, where a group of eight medical students had gone for a picnic by the riverbank. During the outing, some members of the group entered the river for a swim. Unfortunately, three of them — identified as Gopal Sakhra, Parth Jadhav and Swapnil Shire — are believed to have ventured into deep waters and did not resurface.
Local authorities were immediately alerted and a search operation was launched. However, the rescue efforts were suspended after nightfall due to poor visibility and will resume on Sunday morning, an official confirmed.
Further updates on the rescue operation are awaited as authorities continue their efforts to trace the missing students.
