Thunderstorm Forecasts Impact Arunachal Pradesh Until March 29.webp

Itanagar, March 25 A severe hailstorm hit Banderdewa in Arunachal Pradesh, causing damage to houses, uprooting trees and electric poles, while the weather department has forecast thunderstorms and lightning strikes across the state until March 29.

According to an official report, more than 20 houses have been damaged in the disaster that struck the area on Tuesday.

Banderdewa circle officer Taba Milka assessed the damage in areas under Pichola, Tani Hapa, and Gorubanda panchayat segments.

The road was temporarily blocked by uprooted trees, disrupting traffic. However, the road was cleared for traffic by early morning.

Officials said that power supply may remain disrupted for the next two to three days.

To ensure proper assessment of the damage and relief measures, a team comprising the panchayat inspector, gram panchayat chairperson, and village heads has been constituted.

The team has been tasked with identifying all affected families and has been asked to submit a detailed report to the authorities within two days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that thunderstorms and lightning strikes are very likely in isolated places across the state on March 26.

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning strikes and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, are expected in isolated places on March 27 and 28.

Thunderstorms and lightning strikes are also likely in isolated places on March 29, with heavy rain expected in some areas.

The weather department has advised people to remain cautious during periods of thunderstorms and lightning strikes, particularly in vulnerable and hilly areas, as gusty winds and heavy rain may lead to localised disruptions.
