Tim David's Confidence Boost: Preparation and Partnership

Tim David's Confidence Boost: Preparation and Partnership.webp

Bangalore, April 5 Pleased with his game-changing 70 off 25 balls, RCB's Australian batsman Tim David credited his superb performance against CSK to the guidance provided by his batting coach, Dinesh Karthik, which helped him prepare for these conditions.

David, whom his captain Rajat Patidar described as "the best finisher I have ever seen," hit eight sixes along with three boundaries as RCB scored 250 for 3, and then bowled out CSK for 207.

"I don't change my game much, but I have confidence in the preparation I do. It's nice to work with DK (Dinesh Karthik), he is an experienced player in these conditions. I have been in the IPL for a few years, and with that kind of preparation, you don't put pressure on yourself to perform," David said at the post-match presentation.

He certainly was happy, as such performances don't happen every day.

"Very pleased – it doesn't always happen that way. The captain (Rajat Patidar, who scored 48 off 19 balls) was hitting it out of the park. And I just took some balls off him – it was a lot of fun. Going in to bat with Jitesh (Sharma) and (Romario) Shepherd behind me really gives me confidence," he said.

Captain Patidar praised him: "He (David) is a specialist, and one of the best finishers. He is consistent, and one of the best finishers I have ever seen."

The captain also commended senior player Krunal Pandya, who dismissed Sarfaraz Khan and Kartik Sharma in one over.

"Whenever I feel pressure, I look to KP (Krunal Pandya) and I have that much belief in him," he said.

A disappointed CSK captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, had little to offer after a third straight defeat.

"If I could have contributed more, maybe it could have been different. The loss was definitely on me today," he said.
