Chandigarh, March 25 Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said on Wednesday that the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna is helping to ensure timely treatment for newborns and young children without financial or administrative delays.
Under the scheme, families receive cashless health coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per year at empanelled government and private hospitals.
According to an official statement, in a recent case from Sri Muktsar Sahib, a one-year-old child suffering from pneumonia received immediate treatment at a private hospital under the scheme without any upfront payment.
The presence of a Sehat Card allowed doctors to start treatment without waiting for funds or approvals, the statement said, adding that similar cases have been reported from Sangrur and Mansa.
So far, over 26 lakh Sehat Cards have been issued, covering treatment across more than 900 hospitals and 2,300 medical packages, it said.
