New Delhi, March 13 The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a plea seeking directions to take action against individuals or organizations allegedly spreading misinformation about the Tirumala laddus controversy through posters or public statements.
On October 4, 2024, the top court had constituted a five-member independent SIT to investigate the allegations that animal fat was used in preparing Tirupati laddus to "appease the feelings of crores of people", while making it clear that the court cannot be used as a "political battleground".
A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said a criminal case has been registered in the matter, and the investigation is ongoing.
The bench said that the petitioner or any other interested person can submit any relevant materials to the investigating agency to help bring the investigation to a logical conclusion.
