TMC Accuses BJP of Delisting Voter IDs, Plans 'No Vote to BJP' Campaign

TMC Accuses BJP of Delisting Voter IDs, Plans 'No Vote to BJP' Campaign.webp

Kolkata, February 16 TMC general secretary Kunal Ghosh said on Monday that the BJP is unlikely to win more than 30 seats in the West Bengal Assembly elections and will fail to secure the post of Leader of the Opposition (LoP).

Asserting that the people of the state will issue a "chargesheet" to the BJP when they seek votes, Ghosh told reporters, "BJP leaders must explain why the ₹1,86,000 crore central fund dues for the poor of Bengal still remain unpaid."

Claiming that the BJP lacks the manpower to manage all the polling booths, he said, "The BJP will not even cross the 30 mark in its seat count, and therefore, will not get the post of Leader of the Opposition after the results are announced."

"Mamata Banerjee will return with a resounding majority in the elections and again become the Chief Minister, while the BJP will be defeated," he said.

He accused the saffron party of depriving people of 100 days' wages and obstructing low-cost housing under the Indira Awas Yojana, forcing the "people-centric, humanitarian Mamata Banerjee government" to intervene using state resources.

Describing the Election Commission as "an agent and slave of the BJP", Ghosh said their recent decision to delist Bangla Awas Yojana certificates as one of the alternative documents for voting rights after the SIR hearing "exposes the nefarious agenda to disenfranchise lakhs of genuine voters who support the TMC."

"We urge everyone to vote for TMC candidates as part of the 'No vote to BJP' campaign," he added.

In response to a question, Ghosh said suspended TMC MLA and founder of Janata Unnayan Party (JUP) Humayun Kabir is not a significant force.

"Do not attach any importance to Kabir. He is nobody; he is just a creation of the media. His 'Babri March' in Murshidabad saw the participation of 30 motorcycles, many of which belonged to accompanying police and security personnel," he said.
