Chennai, February 23 Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik released the final voter list here on Monday, and 97.37 lakh names were removed from the list under various categories.
The state now has 5.67 crore voters, she said.
Addressing a press conference, Patnaik stated that before the Systematic Elimination of redundant entries (SIR) exercise, the state's electorate stood at 6.41 crore. Now, 7.40 lakh people in the 18-19 age group have been added to the voter list, and 97.37 lakh names have been removed under various categories.
Continuous updates will be implemented immediately, she added.
