New Delhi, March 10 Traffic movement will be affected on several roads in the Civil Lines area of north Delhi from March 10 to March 25 due to sewer line laying work, the Delhi Traffic Police said on Tuesday.
According to a traffic advisory, a 300-mm diameter sewer line is being laid by the Delhi Jal Board from 31 Rajpur Road to 19 Rajpur Road on the carriageway between the Civil Lines police station and MCD Chowk.
Due to the work, the carriageway on Rajpur Road from Rajpur Authority cut to MCD Chowk will remain closed for all vehicles during the period, the advisory said.
Traffic coming from the Civil Lines police station red light and the Rajpur Authority cut towards MCD Chowk and Tis Hazari will be diverted. However, from MCD Chowk towards the Civil Lines police station, one carriageway will remain operational.
The restrictions are likely to affect traffic on Rajpur Road, Mall Road, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Chauburja Marg, Bhiku Ram Jain Marg, Shamnath Marg, and Lok Niwas Marg, the police said.
As per the advisory, commuters travelling towards Tis Hazari will be diverted from the Civil Lines red light and the Rajpur Authority cut.
Traffic police have suggested alternative routes, including Civil Lines police station red light–Upper Authority cut–Under Hill Road–Shamnath Marg–Raj Niwas Road–MCD Chowk and another route via Boulevard Road and Yudhister Setu.
Commuters have been advised to avoid the affected stretches and use alternative routes to minimize inconvenience.
