
Ranchi, March 27 A couple is alleged to have drowned in a well in Giridih, Jharkhand, according to police on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Murmu (35) and his wife, Parvati Murmu (32). The incident occurred in Govindpura village, under the Gandey police station limits, on Thursday.
"The bodies have been handed over to the family members after a post-mortem examination. The incident occurred when the woman slipped while fetching water from the well. Her husband also drowned in an attempt to save her," said Anand Singh, the officer in charge of the Gandey police station.
A case of unnatural death has been registered in connection with the incident, Singh said.
