
An Indian crew member lost his life after a US-owned crude oil tanker was attacked near Basra, Iraq. In a social media post, the Indian Embassy in Iraq stated that the tanker, Safesea Vishnu, was sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands. It also added that the remaining 15 Indian crew members have been evacuated to a safe location. The embassy stated that they are in regular contact with Iraqi authorities and have assisted the rescued Indian sailors, providing all possible support. They also extended condolences to the family of the deceased crew member.
