Thane, April 2 A 10-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a lake in Thane city, Maharashtra, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at the lake in the Mogarpada area, under the jurisdiction of the Kasarwadavali police station.
The boy went to the lake with his friends, entered the water to swim, and drowned, a police official said.
Those present with him raised an alarm, after which police and fire personnel rushed to the scene and later retrieved the body.
The police have since registered a case of accidental death, the official said.
