
Amaravati, April 3 – Eight people were killed in four separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Friday, police said.
One person died and four were injured when a tourist bus from Gujarat crashed into a mini lorry near Dornala in the Markapuram district.
The tourist bus, carrying 40 passengers, was travelling from Rajkot to Srisailam. The accident occurred when the bus driver lost control after the vehicle suffered a tyre puncture and hit a stationary DCM on the roadside. The mini lorry had broken down, and the driver had stopped it by the roadside.
Police rushed to the scene and transported the injured to the government hospital in Dornala.
In another accident in the Anakapalli district, three young men were killed when a motorcycle they were riding was hit by a private bus at the Pothireddypalem junction in Anakapalli district.
According to police, the accident occurred in the early hours of the day when the young men were returning after visiting a local fair in Purushottapuram village.
Two of the young men died on the spot, while the third succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Yelamanchili.
The deceased, who earned their livelihood by painting, have been identified as I. Govindu (25), Bangaru Nani (24), and Bangaru Durgaprasad (16).
In the third accident in the NTR district, two people died and three others were injured when they were hit by a truck.
According to police, five people returning from catering work were travelling on a motorcycle from Nuzvidu to Tiruvuru. Two of them got off on the Lakshmipuram-Nuzvidu highway. When the motorcycle was standing by the roadside, a truck hit it.
Two of them died on the spot, while three others were injured. The injured were transported to a hospital, where the condition of one of them is reported to be critical.
The deceased were identified as Nakka Eshwar (16) and Madugu Sunny (17).
Police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
In another accident in neighbouring Telangana, two people died and another was injured.
The accident occurred when a car in which they were travelling crashed into a stationary lorry on the Karimnagar-Peddapalli Bypass.
