Train Derails Near Nagpur – No Injuries Reported.webp

Nagpur, March 29 A train travelling from Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh to Itwari in Maharashtra derailed near Nagpur on Sunday, officials said.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred around 9:45 pm between Kalamna and Kamptee under the South East Central Railway's Nagpur Division.

According to officials, the front two wheels of the first coach of the Balaghat-Itwari MEMU (68715) came off the tracks.

"The train was running at a controlled speed, which played a key role in avoiding any serious damage or loss of life," said a railway official.

Passengers on board remained safe, and railway traffic was not significantly affected, he said.

Another official said, "Initial reports suggest that some obstruction near the tracks, possibly due to sleepers placed too close, may have caused the derailment. A detailed investigation has been ordered."

Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash just before the derailment. It was also found that one wheel of a coach was damaged due to the impact.

Repair and restoration work has begun at the site, and officials said normal services will continue without interruption.
