
Amaravati, March 28 Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister M Ramprasad Reddy said on Saturday that over 1,000 buses have been checked across the state, and 236 have been penalized for lacking proper documents.
Reddy's comments come in the wake of four major bus accidents that claimed 45 lives, including 33 who were charred to death, and injured several others within six months.
"We are taking intensive measures to prevent road accidents. Across the state, we checked 1,036 buses. Cases have been registered, and penalties were imposed on 236 buses that lacked proper documentation," he said in an official press release.
According to the minister, authorities have conducted checks at 16 locations, including toll plazas and checkpoints, across the state.
The transport minister promised regular checks and strict action against violations.
Reddy asserted that the government prioritizes passenger safety and urged everyone to adhere to the law.
