
Agartala, April 10 The intense campaign for the elections to the 28-member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) concluded on Friday, officials said.
The TTAADC comprises two-thirds of the state's geographical area and is home to a population of 13 lakh.
Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma led a high-decibel campaign for the Tirpa Motha Party (TMP), which is trying to retain power in the TTAADC, while Chief Minister Manik Saha spearheaded the BJP campaign with the saffron party trying to wrest power from the TMP in the tribal council.
The CPI (M) and Congress also intensively campaigned for the elections to the TTAADC.
The polling for the 28 seats in the tribal council spread across eight districts of the state will be held on April 12. The votes will be counted on April 17.
"The campaigning for the tribal council elections, which is scheduled to be held on April 12, ended peacefully on Friday. The process was largely peaceful," State Election Commission (SEC) secretary Anurag Sen told
