Jammu, March 18 The commander of the Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, visited a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday and reviewed the operational preparedness of the troops, officials said.

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, also praised the troops for their vigilance and for successfully thwarting an infiltration attempt last week.

"Lieutenant General Sharma visited the Jhangar Battalion following the successful conduct of Operation Balliyan, in which the alert troops successfully eliminated the infiltration attempt," the Northern Command said in a post on X.

"While reviewing the security situation, operational preparedness, and interactions with all ranks, the Army Commander commended them for their professionalism and resolute commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region," the Northern Command said in a post on X.

On March 10, a heavily armed Pakistani terrorist was killed in an abortive attempt to infiltrate into the Indian side from across the border in the Nowshera sector.
