Gurugram, April 11 Two people traveling in a pickup truck were killed when the speeding vehicle collided with the rear of a truck on a stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway in Nuh district early Saturday, police said.

An officer said the crash took place near Jhimrawat village around 4:30 am. After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and recovered the bodies.

The truck driver fled, abandoning the vehicle at the spot, he added.

Both vehicles were badly damaged in the accident, and a crane was deployed to remove them and clear the carriageway for traffic. The vehicles were subsequently taken into custody, the officer said.

The bodies were sent to Al-Afia Hospital in Mandikhera for post-mortem, and an FIR was registered against the truck driver at Pingwan police station, he added.

Pingwan Station House Officer Nikhil Kumar said, according to preliminary investigation, the speeding pickup truck collided with the rear of the truck, killing its two occupants on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Soraj Keer (38) and Hemraj Mehra, residents of Rajasthan's Tonk district.

"The families of the deceased have been informed, and post-mortem is being conducted. An FIR has been registered, and the accused truck driver will be arrested soon," Kumar added.
