March 08, New Delhi – U.S. President Donald Trump criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday over reports that the United Kingdom was considering sending aircraft carriers to West Asia amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said that the United Kingdom, once a great ally, was considering deploying two aircraft carriers, but added that the United States no longer needed them. He remarked that the U.S. does not need countries that join wars after they have already been won, adding that he would remember Britain’s initial reluctance.
The comments came after the UK Ministry of Defence announced that HMS Prince of Wales had been placed on heightened readiness with a five-day deployment notice, though no final decision has been made. Prime Minister Starmer initially blocked U.S. offensive use of British bases but later approved limited defensive operations from RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia following Iranian missile threats to allies. U.S. forces began utilizing these sites on Saturday to counter Iranian missiles.
