April 03, New Delhi: U.S. President Donald Trump has removed Attorney General Pam Bondi, citing frustration with her performance, particularly her handling of investigative files related to the late financier and sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Reports indicate that Trump was also unhappy with Bondi for not moving quickly to prosecute critics and adversaries he wanted charged.
During her tenure, Bondi advanced Trump's agenda and was seen as weakening the Justice Department's traditional independence from the White House.
However, ongoing criticism over the management and release of Epstein-related records, including concerns from Trump allies and Republican lawmakers, overshadowed her term in office.
Her dismissal comes as Trump signals strategic changes at the Justice Department. Bondi is the second senior official recently removed by the President.
