TVK Targets Karur Constituency Ahead of Election.webp

Karur (Tamil Nadu), March 14 Showing signs of recovery from the tragic stampede in Karur, and seeking to connect with the people, the Vijay-led TVK has launched the 'Target Karur' poll campaign to establish the party's presence in Karur.

The party had maintained a low profile following the Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives at an election rally addressed by Vijay on September 27, 2025, and later gradually commenced conducting rallies in other parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam founder Vijay is facing the Supreme Court-monitored CBI investigation into the incident, and he has been issued a third summons by the investigating agency to appear before it for questioning.

On March 13, TVK functionaries under Karur district secretary V P Mathiyazhagan launched the election campaign after seeking divine blessings at the temples in Kodangipatti in Karur, the home constituency of DMK leader and former state minister V Senthil Balaji.

The members undertook a door-to-door campaign to popularize the party symbol "whistle" among the people.

The 'Target Karur' campaign is aimed to establish the party's presence in the constituency by gaining people's support for TVK in the upcoming Assembly election, the party said.
