
Imphal, February 27 Two individuals from Madhya Pradesh were arrested by security forces on Friday while attempting to smuggle a large quantity of suspected heroin from Manipur, officials said.
A team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) stationed at Imphal airport recovered 4.8 kg of heroin powder when the duo was trying to board a flight to Guwahati.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Suresh and Vijay Singh.
Officials said it is still unclear where the contraband was sourced from and who is the main figure involved in the trade.
The accused have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for further investigation.
