Beed, March 10 Five people, including the security supervisor and his colleague from a private company, were injured after two cars collided head-on in the Beed district of Maharashtra on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The accident occurred around 12:30 pm when a car travelling towards Beed collided with another car coming from the opposite direction on the Manjarsumba-Ambajogai road near Kadamwadi in the Kaij tehsil, about 53 km from the district headquarters.

According to police, Madhukar Balasaheb Gaikwad (54), a retired serviceman and currently working as a security supervisor for a private wind energy company, was travelling in his car towards Beed along with his colleague, Siddheshwar Devsan Adamane (20).

The other car, which was travelling from Beed to Kaij, had three occupants: Shivraj Ravindra Mane (33), Ravi Santaram Shinde (33), and Anil Atmaram More (32). All five people sustained injuries in the collision.

After receiving information about the accident, a police team, under the guidance of Inspector Swapnil Unwane, rushed to the spot and transported the injured to the Sub-District Hospital in Kaij with the help of an ambulance driver.

The medical officer of the Kaij sub-district hospital, Sushil Pawar, said that two of the injured, More and Adamane, were later referred to the District Hospital in Beed for further treatment.
