Beekeeping is emerging as a promising entrepreneurial opportunity for young people in Jammu and Kashmir, driven by the increasing global demand for organic honey and the implementation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
To promote beekeeping, the Department of Agriculture (Apiculture Development) is providing free training and distributing specialized beekeeping units consisting of 35 colonies per beneficiary, helping young people generate sustainable income through honey and other bee products.
During a training program held today in Village Kawa, experts provided technical guidance to aspiring beekeepers and highlighted the potential of modern apiculture under Government of India schemes.
Among the participants was Anshu Sharma from Village Dhanori in Udhampur district, who has established his own beekeeping unit with government support. His success reflects how the HADP initiative is encouraging young people to adopt profitable agribusiness and strengthen the local economy.
