February 27, New Delhi – Britain has reached an agreement with the police regarding the release of documents related to the 2024 appointment of Peter Mandelson as its ambassador to the U.S.

Mandelson, 72, was arrested by London's Metropolitan Police on suspicion of misconduct in public office over his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, and was subsequently released.

The controversy has intensified pressure on Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who dismissed Mandelson in September after details of the relationship emerged.

The Intelligence and Security Committee said that it would independently decide which vetting documents are published, with an initial batch expected in March.

Separately, the EU's anti-fraud office is reviewing Mandelson's past role as trade commissioner in Brussels but has not opened a formal investigation.

Emails released by the U.S. Justice Department suggested closer ties with Epstein than previously known.

His lawyers have rejected the allegations, calling them unfounded.
