March 29, New Delhi: Ukraine has agreed to cooperate on defense with the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to both countries amid escalating regional tensions. Qatar's defense ministry said that Doha and Kyiv have signed a defense cooperation agreement, which includes the exchange of expertise in countering missiles and unmanned aerial systems.
Ukraine has also offered its air-defense expertise and drone technology to countries in the region. Zelenskyy is seeking support from Gulf nations in Ukraine's ongoing conflict with Russia, which is now in its fifth year, as Western military aid faces uncertainty, and Kyiv looks to address budget deficits and fund domestic weapons production.
