In Jammu and Kashmir, the government has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to enhance disaster preparedness in the Union Territory. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that a Memorandum of Agreement was signed in Jammu by UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Isabelle Tschan and Principal Secretary of the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction (DMRRR), Chandraker Bharti, in the presence of Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. This collaboration will support the J&K State Disaster Management Authority through multi-hazard risk assessments, strengthening disaster management plans at all levels, and focusing on landslide and seismic mitigation, school safety initiatives, and mobilizing disaster risk reduction financing.
